International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12^th on the occasion of the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. Ms. Nightingale is hailed as the founder of modern nursing and remembered with admiration as “the lady with the lamp.”

International Nurses Day commemorates, since 1974, each year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses’ Day (IND) resources and evidence, the important role nurses fulfill in health care. The theme for the 2022 resource is Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health.

A nurse’s job is an unending one. Nurses provide ongoing assessment of people’s health. It is their continuous presence, monitoring, observation skills and vigilance that allow doctors to make better diagnoses and propose better treatments.
