World Cancer Day 4th Feb, 2022

World Cancer Day 4th Feb, 2022

The headline of the Day:
“In 2012, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) estimated that 14.1 million new cancer cases and 8.2 million cancer deaths occurred in the world.  An estimated 140,690 cancer cases were reported in 2019. “

Cancer continues to be one of our biggest foes, wreaking havoc on the planet with its most lethal effects. When a person is diagnosed with cancer, their entire world comes tumbling down around them. Almost no one is immune to cancer; we almost all know someone who has been diagnosed with it or has had a close call with it.

Every year on February 4th, WORLD CANCER DAY strives to bring the entire world together in the battle against cancer by increasing awareness and encouraging cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment by pressuring governments and individuals all over the world to take action.

In order to fight cancer, we have to learn the basics of this disease which comprises stages, types, and symptoms. In this blog, we’ll educate you on some common types of cancer in Pakistan

Types of Cancer Prevailing in Pakistan

Since its inception, the method of treating common types of cancer in Pakistan has become advanced and many people have recovered from this disease. Following are the types of cancer that are diagnosed more in Pakistan:

  • Lung Cancer
  • Breast Cancer
  • Liver Cancer
  • Colorectal Cancer
  • Head and Neck Carcinoma

Stages of Cancer

The severity of the disease is determined by the patient’s current stage. The stages of cancer indicate where it is situated and how far it has progressed. Doctors do many tests to establish the stage of cancer before reaching a verdict. The staging is not complete until all of the tests have been completed.

Stage 1: Cancer has only expanded to a small region and has not moved to the lymph nodes or other tissues.

Stage 2: Although cancer has progressed, it has not spread.

Stage 3: Cancer has increased in size and may have migrated to lymph nodes or other organs.

Stage 4: Other organs or parts of your body have been affected by cancer. This stage of cancer is also known as advanced Cancer.

Real-life Pakistani Survivors

“Mohammad Talha was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor. Doctors told him that he has only one month to live as his tumor was so close to the heart. He and his family lost hope, but after successful surgery, he survived. The tumor was successfully removed and his recovery was nothing but a miracle. “

“About a year ago, Nusrat, a 46-year-old mother-wife and cancer survivor, was diagnosed with a lump in her breast. Her cancer was diagnosed as stage 1 after a biopsy. Despite her fears, she boldly had surgery during the pandemic. Nusrat is grateful to God for giving her a new life four months after her recovery.

Just like these two survivors, you’ll find thousands of other survivors who bravely fought with these stages of cancer and are now living healthy and prosperous life.
